NANDI HILLS

            One of the most familiar trekking spots in Bangalore is Nandi Betta or Nandidurga or Nandi Hills which is 60 kilometers away from the center of the city. Most of the people visit early in the morning for breathtaking views. It is an ancient hill for trekking. Other than paragliding there are some other attractive places like Nehru Nilaya, Tipu’s Drop, Gandhi House, Tipu Sultan’s Fort, Amit Sarovar, The Yoga Nandeeshwara and Bhoga Nandeeshwara Temple. It is better to plan during the summer season March to May.

 

RAMANAGARAM

 Ramanagaram is a famous trekking spot in Bangalore which is surrounded by Seven Hills, they are Shivaramagiri, Somagiri, Sidilakallu, Krishnagiri, Jala Siddeshwara, Yeti Rajagiri,  Revana Siddeshwara hills. Activities like rock climbing, day treks and camping can be done here. Other than these, Mekedatu, Kanva Reservoir and Janapada Loka  are the main attractions. It is 55 kilometers from Bangalore which is best to visit during the month of September to January.

 

ANTHARGANGE

            The other name for Anthargange is “Kashi of the south”. It is famous for its Ancient Kashi Vishwanatha Temple and Caves. It is one of the parts of Shathashrunga mountain range. The beauty of this place is that water flows through the bull  statue in the temple. There are two ways to get to this place. One is through broken steps and another one is through undergrowth or through volcanic rocks. It is 80 kilometers away from the Bangalore city and visiting from the month of August to February.

 

DEVARAYANADURGA

            One of the best weekend getaway is Devarayanadurga which is located very close to the Tumkur. It is one of the best trekking spots in Bangalore. The beauty of this place is, it has numerous hills in a forest reserve. The spring at Namada chilume, The Bhoga Narasimha Temple and The Yoga Narasimha Temple are the attractive places to visit here. The best time for trekking is October to May, which is located 72 kilometers from Bangalore.

 

MAKALIDURGA FORT

 It is located near the Makali Village. The Makalidurga Fort is famous for the Lord Shiva Temple where the boulders guide the direction for trekking. Most of the trekkers prefer trekking during the night time with lots of excitement. It is 61 kilometers away from Bangalore. And planning trekking during the month of September to February is best.  

 

SAVANDURGA HILLS

            Savandurga is one of the massive trekking spots in Asia where The Black Hill named Karigudda and The White Hill named Billigudda are composed here. It is a quiet adventurer trek which is surrounded by Magadi Forest. The Karigudda Trail and The Billigudda Trail are the two trekking ways to Savandurga Hills which requires permission from the prior authorities. It is also famous for night time trekking. It is situated 48 kilometers away from Bangalore. It is best to visit from the month October to February.

 

SKANDAGIRI

            Most of the trekking places are famous for trekking during the day time. But Skandagiri is a hilltown which is perfect for night time trekking. The other name for Skandagiri is Kalavara Durga or kalavara Betta which is surrounded by Nandi Hills. Camping at the hilltop under the twinkling stars and lighting moon is the best ever experience one can never forget. The weather is pleasant during the month of November and March where the climate is favourable for your satisfaction.

 

BILIKAL RANGASWAMY BETTA

One of the highest hill hikes is Bilikal Rangaswamy Betta which is 16 kilometers away from Kanakapura in Bangalore. There is a temple of Lord Rangaswamy and a huge rock where the name Bilikal Rangaswamy Betta came from. Though it is not a familiar place among others, few of the neighbors visit here to enjoy the beautiful view of neighbouring hills. The trekkers can plan trekking to this place throughout the year which is uncrowded and it is a one day trek. It is best to visit during the summer and winter time.
