  • Discover the Greek Islands

    Discover the Greek Islands

The Greek islands have attracted people for centuries. From conquering armies to merchants, and from artists to billionaires, everyone seems to appreciate the colours and tastes of this blessed country. In particular, the Greeks islands are a big draw.

Let’s take a look at some of the most special Greek islands. Which ones tickle your fancy?

    Paxos

Paxos is a hidden gem, one that will give you a taste of the greener side of Greece. To the west of the mainland, the Ionian islands receive more rainfall than Greek islands in the Aegean Sea do (although mainly in the autumn and winter months), lending it a lush landscape that combines beautifully with the turquoise and aquamarine of the sea, and the white pebbles that make up its beaches.

Paxos is another one of those islands that cannot be reached by plane – unless you have a water plane, that is. Paxos has no airport and the nearest one is on Corfu. From there, you can take a ferry to Paxos.

While staying on this low-key islands, make sure you take another boat to visit sister island Antipaxos. Nowhere else in Europe will you find such white beaches and such crystal clear waters.

    Mykonos

Mykonos is the iconic Greek island. Its villages, with whitewashed houses and streets, blue doors, pink bougainvillea, and lively taverns, are typical of the Cycladic island group. It is a pleasure to stroll around the eponymous capital of the island at any time of the day, really, but around sunset is when the atmosphere gets especially magical. Crowds of hip and young visitors gather around the area of Little Venice to watch the sun go down behind the row of flour mills that feature on so many postcards of Mykonos.

With a choice of art galleries, boutiques, and hippie markets, Mykonos caters to the rich and famous. In fact, this island is becoming the Greek version of Ibiza. It is dotted with impressive beach bars and nightclubs that attract top-of-the-bill DJs.

    Santorini

Santorini is possibly the most famous Greek island. It features heavily in Instagram posts, on calendars, and in travel documentaries. It is also a popular destination for cruise tourists. So yes, you can expect some crowds here, but they flock to Santorini for a reason.

This island is in fact part of a collapsed volcano. From the crater’s edge, which has converted into steep cliffs, you have world-class views over the Aegean Sea.

In fact, those very cliffs are what make Santorini so photogenic. The locals have built their houses and churches on a rough and steep terrain, meaning that everyone has amazing views. Nowadays, boutique hotels with infinity pools and gourmet restaurants cling to the same cliffs, offering sunset views that make visitors erupt in applause, every day of the year. This may be an expensive island to visit, but it’s an once-in-a-lifetime experience.

    Hydra

A little island with no motorised vehicles, and just donkeys for transport. This used to be daily reality on most of the Greek islands well into the 20th century, but for some reason time has stood still on Hydra. A relatively short ferry ride from Athens will take you to this island, which is popular with the locals for weekend escapes. But not only locals appreciate the stately houses, the narrow alleys, the waterfront restaurants, and the luxury boutiques.

The rich and famous have felt at home here since the seventies, when Leonard Cohen and Sophia Loren started spending time here. There is only one way to find out for yourself how inspiring this Greek island is.

    Crete

If you are one of those persons that get claustrophic on an island, just for the sheer reason of being surrounded by water, Crete would be a great place for you to go. Yes, this is an island, but it’s also so big that you’ll often find yourself in the countryside or in the mountains, without that big blue thing on the horizon.

At over 8,000 square kilometres, there is also lots to discover. No wonder some people return to Crete every year. Whether you like sleepy fishing villages, bustling cities, some seriously challenging hiking, dreamy beaches, or loud nightlife, you can have and do it all on Crete. And with two international airports to choose from, you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to budget airlines.

    Skopelos

Have you watched the movie Mamma Mia? If you haven’t, you definitely should. This modern-day classic is a feel good musical with actors such as Pierce Brosnan, Amanda Seyfried, Meryl Streep, and Colin Firth, among other famous names. Admittedly, it is filled with Greek stereotypes, but some of them are still spot on.

In the film, the characters travel to the island of Kalokairi, which is a fictional name. In reality, the azure waters, the spectacular bays, and the traditional villages were shot on Skopelos. This island is part of the Sporades archipelago, a little over 100 kilometres north of Athens, as the crow flies.

Despite its popularity after the movie, Skopelos maintains an authentic feel. Because it has no airport, it can’t attract large masses of tourists. By ferry from Athens, you can get to Skopelos in two to four hours.

  • Why you should be a traveler

Why you should be a traveler

Why should I travel around the world this year? Or why should I think about traveling around the world at least once in my life? If you have any of the above questions about traveling, read the top reasons to be a traveler. We’ll go over the top reasons why you should travel the world in this article.

People frequently see avid travelers booking flights to India from DC and to various other places around the world. Or leaving their homes to travel around the world at least once in their lives. As a result, many people wonder, “Why should I travel the world?” Well, the answer includes excitement, self-assurance, high morale, mental peace, and self-development.

Let’s know why you should be a traveler

    To boost your morale

When you get out into the world, your morale and self-confidence begin to improve. Every day, traveling presents new challenges, and each time you overcome one of these challenges on your own, your self-confidence grows. Especially when traveling alone, because there is no one else to share the credit for your travel abilities.

Another way to look at it is that you will be in a different environment than the one in which you were raised. And the faster you adapt, the better your understanding of the world will be. Traveling will not only teach you about your adaptability skills, but it will also allow you to explore the world.

To make yourself a better learner

When you travel to a destination, the destination welcomes you with open arms. By exploring the destination, you also open your gates to it. When you visit a place, you learn about its unique architectural designs, historical stories, and cultural and regional beliefs. And discover a plethora of new things about which you are unaware.

For example, if you take flights to India from NYC, you will learn a variety of things. This includes the words “Bye” being pronounced as “Alvida” in Hindi.

    To expand your perspective

We tend to see things in black and white, but travel broadens your perspective by revealing that there is a lot more grey in between. It means that what is wrong in your culture may be correct in another religious tradition. Polluting rivers is a sin according to the Hindu religion, as it is in other religions. Rivers in the same country are heavily polluted because of different reasons. And by spending time there, you’ll discover that both are perfectly fine in their own right.

Traveling broadens your thought process, which keeps you from becoming judgmental. It introduces you to a world of unlimited possibilities presenting numerous ways to live. And, while none of these million ways are perfect, each person chooses what works best for them. Traveling teaches you that nothing is perfect, and the journey is more important than the destination.

Traveling builds you as a communicator

Traveling to distant places takes you out of your small world and introduces you to a larger one. On your journey, you meet new people and exchange stories. And you want to hear them all because they want to know about yours.

Traveling allows you to communicate with new people from all over the world and exchange stories. Not only do the friendships formed while traveling has strong bonds, but these friends also share a common goal, which is to travel. So, whenever you want to get back on the road, you can invite them along, and here’s to more fun trips in the future.

    Traveling solidifies your character

Remember how you or a friend used to complain about their lifestyle when you were a kid? When we grow up in a comfortable environment, the most important thing we lose is gratitude. We forget how fortunate we are to have what our parents have provided for us and the opportunities we have had. As a result, we complain about everything they couldn’t get for us. Traveling, on the other hand, reawakens long-lost gratitude that strengthens your character.

When you travel to developing countries, you will see children working in low-wage jobs. Or people who work all day to feed their children at night and still fail to do so. All of these things make you grateful for the comforts you’ve had since birth. You become grateful to your guardians and this helps in improving the quality of your relationship with them. And all of these things strengthen your character by making you a better and kinder version of yourself.

Traveling introduces you to new places

Traveling takes you to places you couldn’t take your eyes off. Yes, we understand that you can always e-travel by looking at the pictures or videos of anything without leaving your house. However, no matter how many advantages e-travel has, it is not the same as traveling.

When you start visiting places, you’ll notice that they tell you stories if you pay attention. One of the seven wonders, the Taj Mahal, tells many stories about its construction to visitors. Its name is derived from the name of the king’s wife, Mumtaz Mahal, as it was built for the queen herself. The location contains the cremated bodies of both the king and queen, showcasing the feelings of eternal love.

Traveling allows you to taste different cuisines

If you enjoy food, travel should be your happy place and favorite hobby. The best thing about traveling is getting to try new foods. And eat dishes with hundreds of years of history or those that were born just a few days ago. Traveling does not only entail visiting historical monuments, mountains, and other popular spots. It’s also about trying out new food joints, restaurants, cafes, bars, and local eateries.

If you enjoy American cuisine and consume it regularly in your home country. Then imagine eating authentic American food in a restaurant after spending the day exploring the country’s beautiful scenery. Nothing compares to this experience and the taste of the American food consumed as a result of it.

The best way to find the best food is to ask locals about where you can find the best food at a place. If you share a love for street food, then don’t hesitate in exploring the local food joints, bars, and eateries.

  • 10 best tapas bars in Barcelona

10 best tapas bars in Barcelona

Barcelona, the name is as beautiful and enthralling as the whole existence of the city. This city is nestled between the Mediterranean sea in northeastern Spain. It is a gorgeous pot of culture, renowned cuisine, legendary art and culture and more.

Tapa first originated in ancient Barcelona. The word implies small bite sized dishes that have evolved to become the most famous cuisine of most places. Many of the city’s best chef’s put their culinary arts in these dishes. We have listed 10 best tapas bars in Barcelona, where you can savour these dishes.

    Bar Bodega Quimet

We should begin stuff off right by telling you a real Barcelona-style tapas pub would be one of the several bodegas across the city. In the town, bodegas are spots where you can either savour wine or buy wine. Barrel banded walls, homemade vermouth and occasionally, just periodically, tapas! Tapas that go over the cheese, olives, and charcuterie. You can visit this city through our Spain tour packages at Pickyourtrail website.

What we love about Bar bodega, the bar has it all. Natural inner, vermut casero and shockingly detailed tapas. This tiny jewel of Gracia is one of our special bodegas and tapas pubs in Barcelona.

    El Rincón del Cava

The most favourite glossy wine of Catalonia, Cava, is incredible for so numerous explanations. One of our favourite spots to appreciate it at its best is of course, in El Rincón del Cava. This void in the border cava bar lies in the heart of the unassuming Poble Sec district and is a favourite for cheap tapas and even cheaper cava (95 cents a glass!). Even better is that they enable outlet raciones, or half-sized tapas, in the issue that you like to attempt them all!

    Bormuth

Bormuth enrolled in La Ribera’s restaurant event a few years ago, and we could not be more grateful. The neighbourhood wanted an ultra-casual tapas pub like this one. We adore their agreement at Madrileño belief, something you don’t constantly discover in these portions. Discover every conventional tapa ever built on their card, we respect the albondigas or meatballs, and the fried eggplant and goat’s cheese is also tremendous. Get there fast to ensure a place.

    Bar Del Pla

Concealed in a tiny enclosure in the soul of El Born fabricates this jewel of a diner! We like their tasty lip-smacking dishes. The Secreto ibérico is an incredible dish! Not to speak of their popular bravas, which are also asserted to be a few of the nicest in Barcelona. Nonetheless, you’ll just have to seize a stay at this regional hotspot to agree for yourself!

    La Cova Fumada

This ancient gap in the embankment heeds to easy plates spurting with flavour. It’s a tiny, active, civil spot where you may have to wrap yourselves at the pub before dealing a chart with a pair of residents, like dining in a huge household kitchen. They’re famous for their bombas (flesh restored mashed potato globes swivelled in breadcrumbs) assisted with an option of three seasonings, rated by spiciness, salsa del diablo prevailing the warmth. And then there’s the dough, attempt the pa amb all I oli, big pieces of barbecued dough slathered with raw, homemade garlic mayonnaise. Easy, but it helps. Savour the sardines, the grilled artichokes, squid and the bacallà presented with tomato salad.

    Mattea

You’ll discover a ton of Basque bars all over the town. Mattea is best if you are looking for excellence, variation and all-around value. Large fractions of flesh, cheeses, fish, seafood and tapenades bunched on pieces of bread sliced with a toothpick, therefore the phrase pintxo, which implies stake. Order a beverage and pick a dish from the pub. The youthful, thoughtful faculty will elucidate how staff enrols. Friendliness of the staff shows when they give you hot pintxo, maybe a date draped in bacon when you won’t be expecting it.

    Los Toreros

The season of bullfighting has just about ended in Catalonia. The new season will be relatively final. Again, eventually, this anomalous throwback will come to be more of a gallery than it is, with its very conventional contributions fulfilled in pale 1960s splendour. Unseen along a prospective road, this inexpensive and pleasing area is rampant with old pictures, advertisements, bulls’ heads and Cordobes caps on the peeling panels of adjoined dining cabins.

    Quimet I Quimet

Full to the shafts with dirty jars of wine, this traditional but miniature bar composes for tapas what it requires. The special things are reserves (shellfish preserved in tins), which are not constantly to non-Spanish flavours, but the ‘montaditos’, carved tapas are given on bread, are stunning. You should savour salmon sashimi with cream cheese, honey and soy, or cod, passata and jet olive pâté. Reap there ahead for any opportunity of a ground on which to plop your beverage.

    Pollera Fontana

This gorgeous place isn’t just a popular chicken diner. It’s also not that near to the Fontana metro station. Rather, it’s a tapas pub r diner between the Fontana and Joanic metro stations. Landlord or cook Nil Ros and his squad are devoted to conventional Catalan cooking and homemade favourites employing his grandmother’s recipes. Everything is prepared fresh, and we discovered both the traditional dishes and the tapas were well enforced. They even serve paellas.

    El Xampanyet

El Xampanyet is a Barcelona special, and you must try, at least for a limited moment as it’s frequently tough to stay in the crowds; which are enough and constantly. This tiny, Barcelona tapas joint gives distinguished champagne, mixed beverages and new and diverse tapas, in a welcoming location. This is what tapas utilized to be before the gastro sensation took possession of and the internationally instilled diners came up. El Xampanyet is as factual as a Barcelona tapas pub can get and the decent fraction is that you can reach for breakfast, lunch or dinner. It’s a few strides away from the coast, which is a good means to burn off the fatty tapas.

There is no better way to live the spirit of Barcelona than enjoying tapas with the locals. Our guide takes you through one of the most famous tapas bars in Barcelona, you would feel the real soul of the city in each tiny bit of dishes that you try. So, let’s fall in love with this amazing city. Pack your bags and let’s go!!

  • What to Know Before You Go Ski in Colorado During COVID

What to Know Before You Go Ski in Colorado During COVID

The ski season has started, and due to the global pandemic and ongoing COVID-19 scenarios, many changes need to be addressed this year. This week I caught up with the Colorado Ski Tire Team to learn about the changes for those looking for a snow or ski program in Colorado during COVID. The Colorado Ski Tire Team represents all 19 ski resorts in the state and has an overview of the outlook for the slopes for the 2020/2021 season.

COLORADO, NORTH AMERICA, TRAVEL, TRAVEL TIPS, USA November 4, 2020

What to know before skiing in Colorado

    Things always change

When planning a mountain trip, consider COVID Colorado’s new skiing precautions to keep people in the mountains as safe as possible. I don’t think this is understood, but things always change. And sometimes they change quickly. So do some research before you travel to understand current travel restrictions and recommendations from local governments and counties. Check-in before and on the day of arrival as specifics may vary from resort to resort.

Colorado Ski Site is available to view the latest updates from various ski resorts. I always like to check social media for any place I want to visit within 48 hours of arriving to make sure it’s still open. During the COVID I was also active in booking all seats as most of the seats had limited capacity.

Looking for the best ski vacation in Texas? Check out my Texas Ski Guide for the easiest way to get to the mountain.

    Travel wisely

If you are adventurous, skiing or snowboarding is a fantastic and socially isolated activity. When planning a trip, you need to be careful when thinking about how to find places to minimize your exposure and also your exposure to others. Can you travel instead of flying? Skiing during the week instead of the weekend? Can we rent a kitchen from Airbnb? Pack your food in the hills Minimize restaurant visits? Do you bring your equipment with you?

    Colorado COVID ski policy

    BUILD YOUR MARCH

Expect masks to be needed everywhere on the mountain. They must be carried in elevators, freight elevators and indoors. It is not necessary to wear them on skis and snowboards, but face equipment should be available in all public places.

    SKI LIFT

Nobody needs to be in the elevator with someone who isn’t attending the party. The raised lines are arranged to leave more space when standing in a row. Luckily, skis and snowboards are about six feet apart, so these are natural reminders to keep your place on the mountain.

    Reservations and flights

At the moment it is not required to book a ski pass or people with a ski pass. In some places, such as Copper and Eldora, there are hilly reserves to reduce the number of people. If you have an Icon Pass, you may need to make a reservation before climbing the mountain.

Tickets must be purchased in advance as all counters are closed. Everything is self-service and takes no time. Aspen-Snowmass has a new program to buy tickets, rent a QR code, and even order / pay for food in the program.

    SOCIAL DETAILS

Many ski areas reduce the internal space available to skiers. Ski school rentals and meetings take place outdoors.

Many places are rebuilding their homes to encourage social extension and give housewives control over their numbers. Cashiers will even build specially designed claws and structures, including refurbished gondolas, to improve the outdoor environment.

In some cases, resorts are postponing their start dates to ensure there are more competitions on the hill to keep the crowds down.

Colorado currently bans groups of more than 10 members, making it difficult to travel in large groups with people from more than two families.

    DACH. O

Anyone who has ever gone skiing in good weather and has taken a lunch break knows that huts in the middle of the mountain are a disaster! Beach resorts seem to slow down for lunch with more outdoor seating, more catchment areas, and dining cars. If possible, you can download the mountain program and pre-order food. Packaging your own food is always a safe bet.

In some places, like Copper Mountain, restaurants have queues for reservations. You can enter text by typing it. Copper Mountain offers a variety of dining options for guests staying in self-catering accommodations.

    CLEANING

The mountains were open during the summer, so the teams have drainage equipment and useful tools between missions. For instance

    BUILD YOUR EQUIPMENT

Last year I invested in Google and the headset. I’m glad they’re available this season, so I don’t have to worry about borrowing someone else’s face. Everyone should carry the best ski boots with them while skiing. This helps to get a premium level of performance.

    USE DEPARTMENT OF FUN

COVID-19 won’t go away anytime soon, so be careful when planning and traveling. I have traveled several times this summer to minimize interactions with others. I pack the food in a cool box and order places with a kitchen with everything needed to cook and I avoid restaurants.
